What is Polystyrene (PS)?
Polystyrene (PS) is a frangible polymer, composed of styrene monomers.
Polystyrene (PS) is classified into:
- Expanded Polystyrene (EPS),
- General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS),
- High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS).
Polystyrene (PS) in production:
Foam rubber: heat insulation, packaging.
By employing the injection moulding method it is used to produce containers and consumer goods.
By employing the extrusion method it is used to make sheets that are used in production of refrigerators and disposable packaging.
General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) is a clear thermoplastic resin, while the High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is matte.
