Polypropylene (PP)
What is Polypropylene (PP)?
Polypropylene (PP) is a hard, elastic polymer composed of propene (propylene) monomers.
Types of Polypropylene (PP)
Depending on composition, polypropylenes (PP) are classified into homopolymers and copolymers. Homopolymers are solely composed of propylene molecules, while copolymers are produced from the compound of propylene and other substances. Copolymers are further divided into block and random copolymers. Block copolymers have good impact resistance, whereas random copolymers are more transparent.
Polypropylene (PP) in production:
By employing the extrusion method it is used to make pipes, sheets, profile shapes, packaging films and continuous sheeting.
By employing the injection moulding method it is used to make household articles, toys, containers, automotive parts and technical products.
By employing the blow moulding method it is used to make containers, consumer goods, technical parts, bottles, barrels and cosmetics bottles.
